Not to take anything away from Whittaker after his win, but I cannot imagine a line of reasoning by which Israel Adesanya is not the top middleweight in the world. What's up with these rankings?

A lot of the time I think it's just a case of people forgetting or not bothering to update their rankings regularly and I'll admit that I'm also guilty of that as I've got a few current rankings from about 8 months ago that just look strange now.

@Stephen Terry, you're probably right, but I see some recent rankings (as in today) that don't even list him. Maybe they don't think he should not be ranked until he fights at 185 again? I don't know - it reminds me of people who didn't vote for Hank Aaron on their Baseball Hall of Fame ballots.

Well, if they don't think Adesanya is the best Middleweight then they're entitled to their opinion but as far as I'm concerned he's the best Middleweight right now. Plus, from what I've heard, he's gonna go back down to Middleweight and might not try again in the Light Heavyweight division.
