Good choice generally. He really wasn't cutting it as a UFC guy any more and was just getting annoying to watch as he was too slow and predictable to land his overhand but too tough to get finished so he just went to a bunch of ugly decisions. Bellator should rematch him with Kongo and hope Nelson kills him again.

Great pick up for Bellator.  Coker is really starting to build up Bellator into a serious alternative to the UFC now.  I like it.

I thought he had another fight coming up in the UFC?

Guess not, good for him though. it is a good spot to be.

A 40 year old former gatekeeper is a great pick up? That's a rather rosie outlook on the situation.

Hopefully his first fight can be on a no live option tape delay loaded with great prelim fights we don't get to see.Bellator sucks compared to what they could be.

Their tape-delayed international shows do better than the live international shows though. They broadcasted Dantas vs Higo live, and it didn't do good at all.

Unfortunately, we probably thought the same of Rory.

In all seriousness, I agree that Roy (or Rory for that matter) has no business being on the prelims or tape delay. Honestly, it's stupid that the #2 organization in the world whose goal it is to give the UFC a run for its money even has tape delay in 2017.

@dtrain, Bellator doing stupid tale delay aside, the problem with Rory is he never moved the needle. Nelson on the other hand always gets a big pop from the crowd and there's a reason he headlined so often. I would bet money Roy is never on tape delay.

Bellator hasn't been the same since the Alvarez scandal. Since Rebney left they've been grappling for solid footing in the MMA world. Sure they sign some big names but do they really make any money? The original vision is gone and Legacy will blow right past them as the premiere feeder organization to the UFC, leaving Bellator with only sloppy seconds. We're already there.

You know why UFC let Rory go... because rumor has Bellator offered him like 400k a fight and the card he headlined was one of the lowest rated of the year for Bellator, that's why.

As for Roy he use to be a draw when he was knocking fools out but when he spends most his fights trying to stall his way to victory and winds up dropping 7 of his last 10 in starts to dull his shine a bit. Roy is leaving the UFC with a negative record in the org.

No doubt Rory made out big. Don't blame him a bit for jumping ship. He has to do what is best for himself.

@bigj

Rory may not be a draw among casuals, but he is a big name among MMA fans.  And considering how the UFC is replacing him with a bunch of can crushing nobodies that have even less name value that he did, I don't see how Bellator is losing with these acquisitions.

He's a good fighter and brings a bit of prestige but he isn't earning Bellator any money which from a business perspective is a bad investment. Prestige is an empty purse it doesn't mean anything unless it translates to viewers.

Rory, Bader, Davis, and Henderson are the most talented signings Bellator got but they paid more than they will ever be able to bring in. It's like when Strikeforce paid a ton for Dan Henderson and he never got raitings. They will make less money having them on the roster than if they never signed them.
