This is a bit belated, since this was announced a while ago.  Still, since a lot of things have happened since then.  One of the most recent developments being that Sherdog have announced that Misha Cirunkov will fight newcomer Alex Nicholson on this card.

I doubt Velasquez gets a title fight straight away after coming back from this latest injury.

He will get the title shot. They need a Hispanic champ for the boxing fans. I doubt Cruz gets much attention as he is injured often too.

I guess it's the best they could do. Makes sense to take it off PPV, but it demonstrates how unworthy of a PPV slot this card was. The only fight they lost was the HW title and they had nothing to support the pay scale beneath it.

You'd think they would have learned from 151 and 176. Third PPV that has been thwarted as a result of top-heavy cards (literally) in almost as many years.

Better than nothing but still disappointing that they could not find a HWY headliner.  If Velasquez had not pulled out, would Werdum have too?  I know he said he had a foot injury but was that before Velasquez pulled out?

Sucks for all those people that payed for inflated PPV ticket prices, but are receiving FS1 quality instead.

If the main event changes I believe UFC is required to offer a refund to those who want one.

@Bigj383: I know that there's a commission rule in California to that effect. I'm not sure if Nevada has the same type of rule (I was under the impression they didn't). I know however, the UFC has no company policy of the sort.

Moreover, people have airline tickets and hotels booked for Super Bowl weekend. You might be able to get your event tickets refunded, but I'm sure people have put in other expenses and plans that can't get refunded or altered. The UFC won't be lowering prices and not everyone will go through the trouble to get the refund and make new arrangements.

Yes it has. This is good as a free event but would have sacked as a PPV.

Some dude on reddit summed it up pretty nicely:

Dana must hate Cain (self.MMA)

submitted 6 hours ago * by RedNinjaBatman

UFC biggest star ever = Lesnar - Cain knocks off lesnar

UFC signs deal with fox, heavyweight title fight - Cain gets ko'd in a minute

UFC goes to Mexico - Cain pulls out days before the event

UFC goes again - Cain shows up out of shape and gets whooped potentially ruining the Mexican market

UFC gives him an instant undeserved rematch - pulls out forcing them to scrap a ppv and potentially throwing off their set schedule for UFC 200

Add that with holding up the heavyweight division for a few years and you probably have Danas most hated fighter.

"Hay lohh you Mike, ay lov you Mike. Hyou say somesing like di fo me, and naw I say you ... I LOV YOU! See you som. Boy." -- Yoel Romero, UFC 205

I think that Cain can give the UFC a lot but has not lived up to that.

I don't understand why they can't just call it UFC 196 and make it on tv like UFC 120 and UFC 122. Instead they potentially have to add an extra PPV just so UFC 200 has the same date.

Maybe it is better because they were really trying to stretch the PPVs far apart to fit with 200 in July.

They actually would have had to have skipped a month if this didn't change. Now it can be 196 in March, 197 in April, 198 in May, and 199 in June.
