Predictions: 6 of 11 Winners, 2 Perfect, 375 Points   |   Tied for 857th

I feel like starting a discussion on whether or not to buy the next MMA PPV that the UFC or Bellator brings us.
The Card: UFC 179
Fights: Aldo vs Mendes
Davis vs Teixeira
Fabio vs Stringer
Elkins vs Martins
Carlos vs Beneil

I grade these on if Joe Silva did a good job making a fight fans want to see or fans are hoping for an exciting fight.

Carlos vs Beneil is not a huge name fight but has the talent to bring fun action based on two different styles

Matchup Grade: B

Elkins vs Martins could go two other ways, either we get to see Martins with his striking and exciting grappling, or Elkins turns it into a gritty wrestling match that could possibly leave Martins on his back for 15 minutes.

Matchup Grade: B-

Fabio vs Stringer is a questioning fight to see on UFC PPV, but Fabio will always bring it no matter what opponent is in front of him. Stringer is a fighter coming off a split decision win against a lower tier UFC fighter in Francimar Barrosa. This could either be a slugfest or a dissapointing sweaty mess.

Matchup Grade: C

Davis vs Glover is the clasic striker vs wrestler match. Glover brings it on the feet, And Davis brings it on the ground. For a co-main event slot it is pretty weak and really only matters if Davis can get the takedown.

Matchup Grade: D+

And for the main event. Aldo vs Mendes 2 is one of the only reasons you should buy this card. The rematch everyone wants to see. No other to put this than an

A+

Do you agree with my grades? Than if not, post away girlscouts

Worth buying by the main and co-main events alone. Yes,I think any Glover and Davis fight is intriguing.

I give the overall card a C- or D+. The main event is good, but there is better ones to be had as goes for the co main event. As for the rest of the card, there's no interesting debuts, undefeated prospects, potential rising stars or even top 10 or 15 guys. This isn't worth 60 dollars and the only reason you'll buy it is for your love of watching fights.

I buy every event I can. I don't care about how many big names are fighting. As long as I get to see fights, I'm happy.

Oh, and I get to see Mendes **** Aldo up, so thats a bonus ;)

i usually judge by the number of top 10 guys fighting and title fights,

we got 4 top ten in the main card which includes a title fight and an interesting fight between Carlos Diego Ferreira vs Beneil Dariush

I wish they put one more top ten fight on the main card

i think the card top to bottom (main and prelims) as a whole is an 8/10

to me if they are gonna feed me a decent undercard then i buy the ppv

Wilson Reis vs Scott Jorgensen should be on the main card

I judge the "buy worthiness" based on if there is a fight (or a few) that I really want to see. This card does not have that. Aldo vs Mendes should be a good fight, but I am bored of rematches and I expect to see another Alpha Male unable to take the fight to the ground and get outstruck by his Nova Unaio opponent.

I do think Davis vs Glover is interesting, but that is the only grade I disagree on. I think Davis has been overlooked in this division and he deserves his shot. I also think Glover has been hyped up way too much and his brawling style has tricked many people. Glover likely wins if Davis can't get any take downs, but should be a good one.

Buy Worthiness Grade: B-
There is nothing that makes me NEED to see this card. A title fight is always good but honestly these two are not even the hot topic in the division and the reschedules and fact its a rematch of a one sided beat down take points away. Davis vs Glover and the exciting Fabio raise it up from a C+ to a B- but not enough to ORDER it.

I also give a B-. We are buying the card based on potential and build up to the fight. Always plenty of build up when you have a rematch. Mendes looks so much better than he was when they first fought and we know what Aldo is capable of.

I think that Glover/Davis fight is a great matchup. Texeira has done well against good wrestlers (except Jones of course). Thats a toss up.
