Davis/Glover could easily end up coming down to how the judges see it with some controversy.

Phil don't like getting hit and could spend his time avoiding that but waking out a dec.

I hope Glover clips him tho.

I have Aldo knocking Mendes out in R1 again. But who knows. Aldo seems to be losing that fire a bit. Not physically, but maybe mentally. Aldo doesn't seem all that interested in fighting anymore. I get the impression that he doesn't wanna do it, but he does due to the fact he is good at it and can make some money from it. I wouldn't consider it an upset if Mendes ended up winning.

As for Glover and Davis, I think Teixeira is gonna beat the brakes off of Phil Davis.

I wonder if watching Barao lose has motivated Aldo. Do you guys remember when he did that media faceoff with Mendes and shoved him and then said it was to hype the fight (haha)? Maybe he's trying to avoid some mistakes he's seen other guys make at least, changing up his strategy. I can definitely see Mendes taking him down repeatedly, though. I guess we'll see.

I see Mendes lasting five rounds with his improved speed, footwork and power that will make Aldo at least respect his striking. Will he win the decision? Unlikely.

I picked Mendes the first time, that obviously turned out well. Undecided on who to take this go 'round.

I don't know what to think here. Aldo's tendency to always run out of energy in the fourth or fifth round in addition to Mendes's wrestling and knockout power he's developed since the last fight makes me think Mendes could win. But Aldo seems to always find a way to win no matter what.

Aldo is a better striker than Barao and he knows what type of gameplan is coming. And maybe watching Barao lose does indeed light a fire under him.

My initial thought is that this goes to decision, but maybe Mendes tries to strike with him and Aldo capitalizes on an error. As good as Mendes's striking got, its still not in the same league as Aldo's

Mendes doesn't have good striking. It's better than it used to be and he's explosive enough to touch a lot of guys, but he's also VERY repetitive and a striker at Aldo's level will be able to expose him.

If Mendes gets finished or not in this fight has nothing to do with him. If Aldo keeps 'just enough to win' mentality from the last few fights, Chad will get decisioned a-la the Frankie fight. If Aldo decides he wants to put on a show, Mendes gets finished within 3, imo.

Reaching hooks could be taken as an improvement in striking; however, I view Mendes' KOs merely as a byproduct of increased self-confidence and the knowledge that getting to a title shot was going to require a lot more than a few boring decision victories. I haven't seen much from Mendes that makes me think his actual stand-up skill has increased, just that he's got more faith in his hands than he did before. Difference between Mendes now and WEC Mendes is basically this: WEC Mendes used hooks to get his opponents moving backwards and open for a double-leg blast, new Mendes uses the threat of the takedown to keep guys hands low to throw his hooks and hope for a KO.

After UFC 178, this card seems so weak.

It was a weaker card all along. Co-main isn't a high-stakes affair in a Jones-dominated division and the rest of the card looks like a Brazil fight night undercard.

This PPV won't so more than 250,000 buys, probably less.

I wanna see Aldo, but there isn't one fight besides that that I have interest in. Aldo's not a big draw, but it doesn't help that he's headlined a lot of bad cards.

Even when Aldo gets a good card he gets screwed, 156 and 136 didn't really do good buys. Sucks for 136, I loved that card.

Don't think it's Aldo's fault ... the majority of MMA fans are "just bleeeed" idiots who only like fat people slobberknocking each other out ... they don't care about MMA.

Even if Conor becomes champ I don't see him selling that much more than Aldo. 300-350 maybe, but I doubt it. Especally with numbers declining across the board anyways.

PPV is not the future ... the faster the UFC and MMA fans understand that and stop measuring fighters by how many PPVs they sell the better. The more free TV fights you get the less PPVs you'll sell.

Ya, the UFC is clearly in a strange transition period. They're reluctant to go full WWE and merge everything onto the Fight Pass platform, but as a result, they're losing business on both ends and watering down cards. We'll see how it all shakes out in the next few years. Tapology will be there all along.
