Im surprised this hasnt been discussed. But during the Dublin pre fight scrum, Dana said Monday he is getting the deal done with Carano and she will fight Rousey . and he ruled out the late DEC and New years cards and said it would most likely be the early DEC card.

This could be official on Monday

I like Carano, but this is a dumb fight if it happens. Carano hasn't fought in 5 years, Rousey is better than ever and this is at a weight class that Carano hasn't fought since her first MMA fight.

Ronda via whatever she wants.

If Carano can keep it standing she could shock everyone... and survive for a round or two before getting judo slammed on her dome and submitted

Oh, also:

When Carano fought, that was when women's MMA was a shadow of what it is today. This is like the UFC bringing Royce Gracie to fight at UFC 60. He was a legend at a different time. Same rules apply here.

Carano was the **** when women's MMA was ****, to put it bluntly.

******* hate it. Love that Gina may be coming back.. but against Ronda right away? C'mon. Not only has Gina never fought at 135.. She hasn't fought in FIVE YEARS. Gina doesn't seem all that interested in MMA anymore to be honest. I mean, I'm sure she wants to fight, but if she loses to Ronda will she still be interested in competing? I don't know the answer to that question. I don't want to see Gina come back for one one-off fight, lose, and then just leave. I'd rather see her in a tough but winnable tune-up in the UFC. See if she can still hang with the girls at a high level.

Not interested in this. Only way this is competitive is if Rousey refuses to attempt a TD.

Carano obviously does not deserve a title shot and probably has a less chance of winning then even Alexis Davis had but that is not the point in the eyes of the UFC. If they can put Ronda and Gina's faces on the same poster and sell a bunch of pay per views that is fine with them.

Im fine with it I want to see Caranos sexyness back in the cage and who else is Rousey gonna fight?

Holm is way too green
Zingano needs to shake off the rust
Kaufmann already lost in a minute to Ronda
Cyborg still has to prove she can lose enough roid muscle to make 135 and has a fight lined up in DEC

This is a spectacle fight just like Hughes vs Royce . or Toney vs Coture . Gina definately doesnt deserve the fight but that doesnt mean a lot dont want to see it

Cyborg/Zingano/McMann in that order I would rather see Rousey fight before Carano but I can totally understand what the UFC is doing from a business perspective. SEEING Gina will be the best part of the whole fight!

This could break a million PPV buys. But what does 'heavily rumored' mean exactly?

and LOL at people not 'being interested.' That's a straight up lie, everyone here will tune in to see what happens if it does indeed happen.

Sorry, I am one that is not paying $59.99 to watch the P4P #1 female fight someone who has not been in a cage in 5 years and in her last match got crushed by someone who I. Personally would rather see within the UFC.

I gotta agree with that... im not a big fan of it but whatever. as long as they do the cyborg fight sometime after I guess im fine with it. if they didn't since shes coming off the loss to cyborg a few years back I would look back on it as garbage

This, to me, is ill conceived.  Rousey on her worst day is light years ahead of Carano on her best day.  This is reminiscent of the kind of get rich quick fights you see in boxing.  I mean, I'll still watch, but it's kind of disappointing.

Perhaps Rousey has reached the point where it doesn't matter who she fights, like Tyson.

This is no different than booking John Cena against Cain Velasquez.except that would sell more.

Except that, you know, John Cena doesn't have a pro record and Carano is 7-1, her one loss coming to a roided out man-woman named Cyborg.

I'm not saying I love the match-up, but you really thing Gina is going to be less competitive than Alexis Davis or Sarah McMann?! No way.
