Being a JMMA, fan I'm stoked tanaka will be fighting in the octagon from now on. He won the 2011 Shooto rookie tournament before signing with PXC. He won the PXC bantamweight title and has defended it once wining a unanimous decision against Kyle Aguon. He has a very slick ground game which has earned him six submission victories in route to a (9-0) record. Any thoughts or comments?

He's 23 and pretty athletic. He defiantly needs to work on his striking. His cardio is good, he has gone the distance and won twice in five round fights. He trains out of Reversal Gym in Yokohama not sure who he trains with though. He defiantly has a Judo or Jiu-Jitsu background. Explosive ground game.

I absolutely love his takedowns, nice fluid and explosive plus he knows how to readjust his shots once he's in rather than just trying to blast double. He has very nice transitions and solid subs. His striking needs work and he gets himself into compromised situations on the ground by being hasty but the latter should improve with more experience. He trains out of possibly the best gym in Japan run by Shuichiro Katsumara. Great signing and I expect him to do very well.

I love how he is always trying to finish fights. UFC needs more grapplers like him,  a bad ass grappler or submission artist can be just as exciting as an explosive striker.
