Rani is 4 years younger, both fighters have the same height (5’6”) and reach (68”).
Rani Yahya is ranked 21 at FW, Clopton is unranked.
Clopton turned pro in 2007, he has two first round finishes, and two submission victories. Clopton has not fought in almost two years, his last victory was in 2009.
Rani is a BJJ blackbelt, three time world Jiu-Jitsu Champion, and the 2007 Abu-Dhabi World Champion. He has wins over Hominick, Wineland, with fifteen of his eighteen wins coming by way of submission, not to mention three Submission of the Night awards.
This is weird matchmaking for Yahya, he choked out Grispi, and then gets a solid decision over Hirota, and then his reward for a two year winning streak is... Clopton? The combination of a two year layoff, and going up against one of the best grapplers in the world, in Brazil, could equate to a short night for Clopton. I expect Yahya to be one of the larger favorites on the card.
