Nate's only been stopped twice. I don't think there will be a third time until he retires, but he doesn't fight to win decisions. He's an opportunistic finisher. And I'm not anticipating an opportunity from Poirier.

I do think 10 pound weight increments make sense all the way up to 185:
- 155
- 165
- 175
- 185
And then I would either:
a) Bring 205 to 200. Because any fighter that can't make 200 means they probably are trying to cut down from 230+. Or...
b) Add 195 and keep 205. But I worry this would spread the decent fighters too thinly, as there are fewer talented guys at that level.

I like Gregory's 200lb idea.
I also wonder about removing that arbitrary 265lb cap on heavyweight. Just let the giants be giants.

@massa the thing about 225 lb division, which @analias talked about, is you need to factor in weight cutting.
If you had a 225 lb division, probably 75% of the existing heavyweight division could cut weight to make this class. N'Gannou would only need to cut 28 lbs. Arlovski would only need to cut 19 lbs. Stipe would only need to cut 17 lbs.
The only guys left at 265 would be Brock Lesnar, Mark Hunt, and other guys who are really up there. Any weight class higher than 205 and it's just going to pull guys out of an already-thin division, because they'll just do a normal weight cut like most UFC fighters do.

Unless they're around 230, they won't cut weight. Promise. HW's don't cut weight. Not in middle-school, definitely not now.
The LAST thing Struve needs is to sweat out more water weight. His chin is done already.
Arlovski is 76 years old. Probably doesn't even know what a sauna is. Dude woke up and weighed in at Moscow.
Lesnar & Hunt would be left? Lesnar doesn't even have a fight and Hunt is about to retire. Derrick Lewis, Volkov, Blaydes, JDS, Ben Rothwell, Ivanov, Duffee, Crowder, Coulter, Albini, Golm, Greg Hardy, Walt Harris, Jeff Hughes, Ruslan Magomedov, Stipe, Oleinik, Overeem, Sakai, Bhullar, Tuivasa, Tybura, Cain, Willis ALL weigh too much to cut to 225. I just named 80% of the division. HW would be just fine.

1 thing is for sure though...265 is nothing. In High school the HW limit in wrestling was 280. Idk how ANY grown man could weigh under 200 pounds. HW should be 300+.

I like Alias's idea of removing the HW cap. Either that, or make a super heavyweight category for the real big boys.

We have the information now on how much water weight fighters are putting back on after the weigh ins. Look at the fight page for any UFC 227 fight. California weighs the fighters when they step in the cage, and we put the numbers in the database.
The weight gain percentages from weigh-in to fight-night typically range from 10% to 15%. Brett Johns weighed in at 135.3 lbs and came in the next night 22.8 lbs heavier! That's a 17% gain. Read that again!
A water replenishment of 10-15% from 225 pound weigh in would mean fighters stepping into the cage between 247.5 lbs and 258.75 lbs. This would just be normal weight cuts for what UFC fighters do all the time.
