I feel like this is a more awkward fight for BJ. But he should still win.

Totally winnable fight for Miller. I'm positive BJ will have a hard time getting past his range and he's a tough coockie on the mat.

2016 BJ Penn loses to Cole Miller.

I hope he wins as this is not a fight he should be losing.

Why's that? He's 37, at a weight class he's never looked good at, after a long layoff, against a younger, very savvy vet who's no slouch on the feet, has a great ground game and an awkward frame to deal with.

I'm picking BJ (mainly because I'm a dumb fanboy), but I don't think this is one of those "this isn't a fight he should be losing" fights. There are a ****load of reasons he can lose this fight.

as long as miller fights a little cautious with his 6 inch reach he can win the decision with ease.  especially if the BJ from the last frankie fight shows up

The last time BJ looked good was round 1 against Diaz, that was almost 5 years ago, since then he's basically not done anything that shows me that at 37 years old, two weight classes lower, he's going to look anything like the BJ of old.

BJ's talented and yeah, 32 year old BJ should never lose to Cole Miller, but this isn't that guy is it. Cole Miller is just one of those fighters that makes it tough on you even when loses. I don't know if BJ's not just chasing something that's long gone, it's not like he did a lot to ensure longevity of his career. He never took care of his body, he's been up and down weight classes, he's a camp-to-camp athlete, not a year-rounder and when he's not in camp he par-tays and bloats up. He's just not that guy that I see having a post-35 resurgence.

Now Siver, I think his talent alone would be enough to beat, not because Siver sucks, just more stylisticly manageable for "old featherweight BJ". Cole, I believe is a different story. Not saying BJ can't or doesn't have a good chance to win, I'm just not signing on to the whole "this isn't a fight BJ should be losing" thing. This is a fight I would not be shocked if he won or lost. That statement belongs in 2011, along with the last sighting of good BJ Penn.

@yoss  Agreed.  The BJ Penn fighting now isn't the one who was the best Lightweight champion ever that could take anything and everything that was thrown at him and still win.  It is the BJ Penn who has a chin of glass and has been brutally beaten up by the likes of Edgar, Diaz, and MacDonald.

I really can't imagine Miller posing any threat to BJ. If BJ goes out there and does anything less than run through him like he should, it will be kinda sad to watch.

I was never a fan of BJ, but I really hope he beats Miller.
Legends deserve respect and it'd be embarrassing for him to lose this one.

What fight involving current BJ Penn makes sense? He's either a washed up, WAY past his prime, outside his weight class legend fighting a legit opponent he has no business fighting only to get embarrassed by or he's a legend with a huge name fighting someone "beneath him" in a lose-lose situation.

Not every fight has to make sense, sometimes they're just fights.

Yeah, Penn's past his prime but when you can make 145 and big 170ers can't finish you your chin isn't made of glass.
