Tapology member Halny has started to send us a lot of updates about happenings in Polish MMA.  He's never posted in the forums, but I'm encouraging him to come here and start providing updates on cards and fighters in Poland.  There's a lot going on in that country!

Joanna Jędrzejczyk is another Polish fighter to visit England next month. Due to no info on the next Invicta card she's taking a "stay busy" fight at Cage Warriors 69 against the vet Rosi Sexton.

Jeez is Invicta dead? Their fighters don't even know anything and are having to fight in other promotions.

It's not dead, it's just resting... But yeah, their last show was over 6 months ago and there was no word on a new one since. They've also lost pretty much all their Strawweights to the UFC. They did sign a bunch of new fighters in the meantime, but haven't done anything with them so far.

The reason why Michał Materla is not fighting at the next KSW.

Jan is UFC bound 100%. He has already turned down offers from bellator and WSOF. I think i heard something about signing late this year. Hes been training in america for a while trying to pick up wrestling and really tighten up his striking. He said he doesnt wanna be a 0-2 or 1-3 fighter and get cut. When he comes to the UFC he wants to make sure he has the skills needed to stick around for a long time.

He is not just "UFC bound", he has signed with them way back in January and has recently announced that he's debuting in late 2014 if everything goes right.

Jan Błachowicz will probably win his first two fights at least and then the real challenge will a be a fringe top 10 where I'm not to sure he will succeed, but we'll see.

Despite what his former coach was saying just last week (i.e. "the way he's going now Łukasz might never get into the UFC"), following his dominating win in Russia, Łukasz "Wookie" Sajewski has signed with the UFC and is poised for a September debut in Brazil against Leonardo Santos.

Wookie is joining the other 6 (actually 7, but he's for some reason not being shown as Polish) Polish fighters currently under the UFC contract.

joe, any source on either Sajewski or Materla? Just asking cuz I use Zane Simon's BE article & this one and neither of them or UFC.com has them listed.

Materla has not been signed. He's just been spotted talking with Dana during the last UFC in Berlin and was already in talks with them before the Jay Silva fight, so it's expected (plus his KSW contract has run out and he has been hesitant to renew afair). As for Wookie, just check his facebook or any of the Polish sites, it should be all over them by now.

After seeing the many Polish events are on here, I am surprised that there is no UFC there yet.

@rappin, there were talks about one in June/July this year, but... certain venues and dates have been somehow quickly booked by certain local promoters, so the Fertitas and co. decide to wait until 2015.

MMA and mixed K-1/MMA/boxing/grappling events have been happening quite frequently in Poland for the last 10 years I think and even more so in the last 5, plus there are big ammy tournaments going on all the time, they just haven't been reported here before. I'm slowly entering the older data and building up the database, but it will take a lot (a lot) of time for it to catch up.

Joe Kerr, I hope you are right about next year. I was watching ufc 50 the other day and Dana kept saying on how they would go to japan that next June(05)after the promised November(04) would not happen. it obviously did not happen until over 7 years later. I doubt it will be that long but it might not be 2015.

According to her manager, Joanna Jędrzejczyk, fresh off her win over Rosi Sexton, has signed with the UFC (she was already under an Invicta contract since I think February). Apparently she is also going to debut in July(!) against another (quite) new signee, Juliana Lima in a Strawweight fight.
